About Maryland's 18th Legislative District![]() District 18 has Eight Municipalities: Town of Kensington, Chevy Chase View, Town of Chevy Chase, Martins Addition, Chevy Chase Village, Chevy Chase section 3, Chevy Chase section 5, and North Chevy Chase. Municipal governments provide vital services including public safety, streets and sidewalks, storm water management, building regulations, parks and playgrounds, trash pickup and community events. District 18 also forms a large part of the Rock Creek and Sligo Creek watersheds. District 18 is served by two MARC Brunswick line commuter rail stations and several Metro red line stations. Major arteries of the road network in district 18 include the Capitol Beltway, Connecticut Avenue, Georgia Avenue, University Boulevard, Veirs Mill Road, Randolph Road, and East West Highway. District 18 has a diverse and rich architecture and history as evidenced by turn of the century Victorian neighborhoods, charming streetcar suburbs and post-war subdivisions. It is home to many historic sites. Josiah Henson, slave and inspiration for the book Uncle Tom's Cabin, was baptised here on the banks of Rock Creek. And St. John's church in Forest Glen is the cradle of Catholicism in America.
